Tyson says Joshua needs to do more in his tactics
Former boxing heavyweight champion Mike Tyson revealed he has fresh doubts about the pedigree of Anthony Joshua after he unified the WBO, IBF and WBA (Super) belts.
Joshua defeated Joseph Parker on unanimous decision in his first 12-round fight, but the former knockout king failed to replicate his streak against the New Zealander.
Despite wining virtually all the rounds against Parker, Tyson thinks Joshua’s performance fell flat and admitted he was not so convinced by AJ’s credentials.
"Joshua looked like he was the guy to [become undisputed champion] but in his last fight, he did not impress me.
"[Deontay Wilder] is improving, he’s getting better,"
Tyson told Showtime. The Nigerian-born boxer is now on the hunt to secure the final major world title, with WBC undefeated champion Deontay Wilder, who is the only other remaining belt holder.
The American has called for a unification fight with Joshua and insisted he is ready to come to the UK to take on the three-belt world champion.
Wilder claimed he has been pursuing a bout with Joshua for several months, with both teams blaming each other for the failure to reach an agreement. Wilder believes the fight needs to happen as soon as possible as the American is now prepared to cross into enemy's territory.
