Arsene Wenger emotional about his decision to quit Arsenal this summer

The 68-year-old led Gunners to a remarkable unbeaten season as well as winning 3 English topflight titles

"I had the feeling a little bit to assist life at my funeral," he said at a post-match news conference. "People speak about how you were, it is a little bit interesting. I don't need to die anymore, 

I know what it is. "I must say I would like to thank everybody who has been absolutely nice to me. I got more praise than I deserve and more criticism than I deserve, it has been difficult but also fantastic." 

The 68-year-old revealed that leaving the club he has managed for the past two decades is difficult, adding that he isn’t sure what life would be like in the first few days away from the club. 

"If you speak about emotions, that certainly would be for me emotionally difficult," he said. "I don't know how well I would deal with that. "It's difficult to say never, but at the moment I'm too attached to this club. 

"I honestly cannot tell you much more, because I don't want you to come back to me in six months and say you lied to us. 

"I know I did that a few times. I wouldn't like to be definite today. I don't know how I will respond to that situation." He continued: "I don't know," he said of the possible effect of his impending departure on the players. 

"That was not the first speculation, the club needs to prepare for the future, the earlier it is settled the better it is. You cannot come in on June 1 and say 'we're separating now'. 

"We will try but we play against Atletico Madrid. It is very open. Hopefully we can continue to have positive results until the end." 

Wenger offered a tongue-in-cheek response to questions about the qualities required by his successor to reinvigorate Arsenal's fortunes on the field.

 "Look, you take me and you take a guy who is much stronger in every point I have," he said with a smile. 

There is no perfect person." The former midfielder joined the Emirates Stadium outfit in 1996 from Nagoya Grampus Eight, having managed Nancy and Monaco earlier in his career. 

Apart from winning three EPL titles, he also won seven FA Cup titles and seven Community Shields. However, before joining the Gunners back then, he won the French Ligue 1 title with Monaco in his first season at the club back then.
